Psoriasis Arthritis – Development Process

PDF Print E-mail

Before I go into detailed development process, let me draw the attention to this fact that

Unlike psoriasis heredity plays a big role in Psoriatic Arthritis. Children of parents with psoriatic arthritis are three times more likely to have it. If an identical twin has psoriasis, there is a 75% chance the other one will have it too.

Up to 40% of people with psoriasis develop psoriatic arthritis.

Prevention and early treatment are the best options for this ugly disease. Therefore it is important to understand the development process of Psoriatic Arthritis.

Modern Pathology recognizes PsA only when T cells are activated and symptoms of joint inflammation are already visible.

Modern Pathology believes that at this time, there is no cure for psoriatic arthritis.  Therefore all treatments are designed to minimize pain and stiffness.  Establishing the correct diagnosis is very important because something can be done to manage most forms of arthritis, and most therapies work best when started early in the disease.

Although modern pathology talks about early treatment for therapies to work better yet all the therapies prescribed under modern pathologies start when patient is already in severe psoriasis condition and in our view patient already developed internal symptoms of Psoriatic Arthritis. You will see it clearly in development process described below

Although this development process is applicable to both psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, we will keep ourselves focused on Psoriatic Arthritis portion. For detailed information on this development process for psoriasis, please read our article Theory behind Psoriasis in the information section. Our Theory and Treatment for Psoriasis Arthritis is based on Ayurveda.

PsA Development Process – Stage I

As we described in detail in our article Journey of Food in Human Body, nature has given our body a beautiful system of extracting energy and other essential ingredients from food to form various body elements such as blood, bone, bone marrow, semen, immunity. This journey of food in our body takes 150 days and got 8 processes. When any of this process is contaminated or waste disposal system is blocked, the toxins or macro globules produced are retained in the body.

This stage is called Accumulation of Toxins stage and is the 1st stage in the PsA development. In this stage toxins are accumulated at the place where they are formed.

As and when body gets chance, it tries to get rid of these toxins. At stage 1 of toxins accumulation, there is no difference between psoriasis, PsA or even any other autoimmune disorder.

At this stage Human Body is facing regular attack of stress but since immunity system is strong and stress is confined to where it is generated. Therefore there is no visible sign of psoriasis at this stage.

Our body does provide symptoms of toxins accumulation in the form of  Indigestion, Constipation, Acidity, Excessive or Loss of appetite,  Burning Sensation etc.

PsA Development Process – Stage II

Once toxins level is increased or the formation becomes more regular and or blockage of waste disposal tunnels becomes acute, the stress on the system increases and toxins gets mixed up to blood and starts traveling to other parts of body. This stage is called Expansion Stage. At this stage also there is no difference between psoriasis, PsA and any other autoimmune disorder.

Constant attack on blood, skin, bone and bone marrow weakens the protective systems and immunity levels.

At this stage our body provides the symptoms in the form of Allergic Reactions, Itching, and Dryness of skin, Urticaria and or Eczema.

Please understand that at this stage also our preventive and immunity system is strong and stress levels have not broken and spread on to body. Through the above mentioned reactions, our body is trying to clean toxins from the system and trying to stop this expansion stage.

PsA Development Process – Stage III

With the constant flow of toxins and our body’s inability to coupe with excessive pressure, toxins start accumulating in our skin, bone marrow and bone itself. This stage is called Localization

At this stage the T cells start malfunctioning and start miscommunication.

Bouts of itching and or Urticaria, Eczema, Acute Dryness, break of skin at knee, elbow are some of the symptoms which starts appearing at regular intervals.

Depending on the body profile of the patient, the localization will be skin and or bone.

Only patients with acute localization at bone, synovium, and joint cavity are at the risk of developing full Blown PsA.

This stage of PsA development is just like dynamite is activated but waiting for a trigger to detonate, just like obesity, high blood pressure etc are the conditions waiting for trigger to bring Heart Attack or Stroke.

PsA Development Process – IV

This stage of development process is called Appearance

As we said in the Stage III, the conditions are fully developed in the body and waiting for a trigger. The trigger can come in the form of Stress, Injury to the body, chronic soar throat, Unhealthy sex, reaction from some medicines etc.

Once any of the above trigger detonate this dynamite, psoriasis starts appearing on to skin.

Generally appearance follows following order but this order can change depending on body profile of patient, accumulation level at skin, bone marrow, bone, joint cavity etc., the kind of trigger activated psoriasis and which part of the body trigger attacked.

  • Lesions on elbow, knee, scalp, stomach, back etc
  • Severe and full body psoriasis
  • Nail pitting and nail deformation
  • Joint inflammation and PsA
  • Bone deformation
  • Permanent disability

Since Nails are the excreta’s of Bone, Nail Pitting and Nail Deforming precede PsA in 85% of the PsA cases.

In some cases PsA can be developed without developing severe psoriasis or even nail pitting.

For example sports personnel are at greater risk of developing psoriatic arthritis without nail pitting or severe body psoriasis due to regular knee and other joint injuries during sport activities.

Often VATA dominant body profile patients get psoriatic arthritis conditions developed. To know more about this and more please read our article Your Body Profile and Psoriasis in our information section.
